Since 2018, Komagatake has started to release a version called "Limited Edition" every year. To be honest, I have some reservations about this name... Which product from your distillery isn't of limited production? Which one doesn't sell out upon release and can only be acquired at inflated prices? However, the production of this series called Limited Edition is really not that limited. Compared to other works with a production of only one or two thousand bottles, the production of Limited Edition 2019 was 11,497 bottles. The large production volume suppresses the scalping space, making it one of the few "drinkers' choice" Single Malt products from this brand in recent years that "doesn't hurt to drink."
IN ADDITION TO USING BOURBON BARRELS AND AMERICAN OAK BARRELS IN 2019, SHERRY BARRELS WERE ALSO ADDED, MAKING THE WINE COLOR NOTICEABLY DARKER THAN IN 2018. THE AROMA FEATURES A VARIETY OF FRUIT SCENTS, INCLUDING ORANGE PEEL, MELON, LEMON, AND A HINT OF SWISS CANDY. ON THE PALATE, THERE IS NO FRESH GRASSY TASTE, JUST FRUITY SWEETNESS, WITH A MEDIUM FINISH.
ALTHOUGH THEY ARE FROM THE SAME SERIES AS THE 2018 VERSION, THE TWO WINES HAVE DISTINCT FLAVORS AND ARE WORTH COMPARING.
