NEAR THE SABURAMARU SAKE BREWERY, THERE IS A PLACE KNOWN FOR ITS ABUNDANT RAPESEED FLOWERS. THE RAPESEED OIL EXTRACTED FROM THEM WAS THE MAIN FUEL FOR OIL LAMPS IN ANCIENT TIMES. DUE TO THE EXTREMELY HIGH QUALITY OF THE LAMP OIL PRODUCED IN THIS AREA, WHICH BROUGHT LIGHT TO COUNTLESS HOUSEHOLDS IN JAPAN, THE PLACE WAS NAMED "JIUNMEI" (TEN YEARS OF LIGHT).

In 2018, Wakatsuru Shuzo launched a whisky named "Ten Years Shine," symbolizing that its whisky could enter every household like an oil lamp. This whisky was mainly exported to Europe, America, China, Taiwan, and other places, receiving favorable reviews. In 2019, Wakatsuru Shuzo launched another work named "Ten Years Shine Half Decade." Different from the previous one, as the name suggests, this whisky uses at least 5 - year - old original whisky and is only sold in limited quantities in the Hokuriku region of Japan (Japan really likes to keep good things within the country...).

"Half Decade" is a blended whisky that uses Wakatsuru's own malt whisky. In terms of taste, this product follows Wakatsuru's consistent peat flavor style. The smoky flavor is prominent, the peatiness is expressed in a gentle and refined manner, with a high degree of balance, making it a smooth and comfortable drink. It's like an oil lamp—simple, yet it warms the drinker's heart just right.

"Half Decade" is a limited-edition product, offering the price and quality of a five-year wine, making it an excellent choice for gatherings with friends during the holidays.
