The Kirin-owned Fuji Gotemba Distillery has monopolized the throne of the World Whisky Award's Single Grain category in recent years, and its technology in brewing grain whisky can be said to have reached perfection. Unfortunately, the distillery's Single Grain releases have always been high - year, extremely low - yield collectible works (such as the Fuji Gotemba Distillery 25 - year), making it difficult for ordinary consumers to have the opportunity to taste them. Until more than a month ago, Kirin announced the launch of this Single Grain mass - consumption work named "Fuji", which really delighted a group of whisky drinkers and finally allowed them to taste the proud work of this distillery that has dominated the Single Grain field for many years!

The reason why the Fuji Gotemba Distillery is particularly skilled at producing grain whiskey is that it was jointly founded by Kirin, Canada's Seagram (the parent company of Crown Royal), the United States' Four Roses, and Scotland's Chivas Brothers. The Japanese, who are good at learning, acquired the technology for brewing rye whiskey from Seagram and bourbon whiskey from Four Roses, and have been continuously integrating and improving it for decades to reach today's heights.

Take a look at the label of this whiskey. It uses the word "Whiskey," which is used for American bourbon (the spelling in Scotland and Japan is Whisky without the "E"), and the alcohol by volume (ABV) is marked as the American "92 Proof" (i.e., 46% ABV). Although it is 100% Japanese whiskey, it has a very mixed-race feel 😂.

OPEN THE BOTTLE AND TAKE A SNIFF; THE FRUITY SWEETNESS IS VERY PROMINENT, WITH THE FLAVORS OF ORANGE PEEL, POMELO, AND GREEN GRAPES, AND IN THE MIDDLE, THE AROMA OF CINNAMON AND LICORICE EMERGES, COMPLEX AND APPEALING. THE TASTE IS GENTLE ON THE PALATE, WITH A VERY LOW LEVEL OF SHARPNESS. THE FLAVORS OF ORANGE JAM, LEMON, AND DARK CHOCOLATE UNFOLD IN LAYERS, WHILE THE AFTERTASTE IS MAINLY OF RIPE FRUIT, ENDING WITH A HINT OF SWEETNESS. OVERALL, IT IS AN OUTSTANDING AND WORTHWHILE WINE TO SAVOR.

Single Grain's works are already few, and those that are outstanding and worth drinking are even rarer. This one must be one of them.
