ANZAI DISTILLERY, WHICH OWNS BRANDS SUCH AS "YAMAZAKURA" AND "963," HAS BEEN IN OPERATION FOR OVER FIVE YEARS SINCE ITS DISTILLERY BUILDING WAS RENOVATED IN 2016. UNLIKE OTHER NEWLY BUILT JAPANESE WHISKY DISTILLERIES, ANZAI DISTILLERY HAS NOT LAUNCHED A LARGE NUMBER OF NEW PRODUCTS. INSTEAD, IT HAS FOLLOWED ITS OWN PACE, CALMLY RELEASING ONLY TWO NEW WHISKIES, TOTALING LESS THAN 3,000 BOTTLES, AND THUS HAS RELATIVELY LOW VISIBILITY IN THE MARKET.
HOWEVER, ANJI DISTILLERY HAS ACTUALLY QUIETLY COLLABORATED WITH SOME LOCAL LIQUOR MERCHANTS TO LAUNCH LIMITED-EDITION SINGLE-BARREL WORKS OF TWO OR THREE HUNDRED BOTTLES, BUT AS THE OFFICIAL DID NOT DELIBERATELY PROMOTE THEM, THE WORKS WERE QUIETLY CLEARED FROM THE SHELVES. WITH AN EXTREMELY LIMITED QUANTITY, INTERESTED FRIENDS SHOULD NOT MISS OUT.
THIS LIQUOR IS PACKAGED IN BARRELS BY "AKITA-YA," A WELL-KNOWN LIQUOR WHOLESALER FROM THE TOHOKU REGION. THE BARREL TYPE IS A BOURBON BARREL USED FOR THE FIRST TIME, BOTTLED AT 50 DEGREES, AND LIMITED TO 287 BOTTLES. ACCORDING TO OFFICIAL INFORMATION, THIS LIQUOR HAS THE DISTINCT STYLE OF THE ANAJI DISTILLERY: THE ACIDITY OF LEMONGRASS, HINOKI CYPRESS, AND CITRUS, WITH AN EXCELLENT BALANCE OF BARREL FLAVOR AND MALT SWEETNESS.
