Try it neat! The aroma is a vibrant mix of yuzu and citrus, with barely a trace of alcohol. The texture is rounded, and you can feel bits of yuzu pulp on your tongue. The flavor opens with yuzu sweetness, followed by a surge of citrusy tartness and a mellow alcohol warmth that stretches into an incredibly long finish. The most outstanding quality is how it manages to deliver such a lengthy aftertaste with a surprisingly mild alcohol sensation, despite its 25% ABV. Just a sip and the rich yuzu flavor will linger in your mouth for a full five minutes—amazing!

Unlike most yuzu liqueurs that simply infuse yuzu fruit or peel in alcohol, this one takes a different approach. The yuzu is peeled, fermented with yeast and sugar, then distilled up to a 55% base spirit. This spirit is then blended with their own house-made yuzu juice and yuzu cordial, resulting in the ultimate expression of yuzu’s essence.

Such a special method is only possible because Yamajin Orchard & Herb Garden is no ordinary producer. Their parent company, Matsuyama Yushi, is famous for yuzu-scented body lotion and strict quality control. They established Yamajin in Tokushima to cultivate yuzu specifically for their products. From juice and essential oils to jams and even yuzu soy sauce, if it’s yuzu-related, they make it themselves. It’s no wonder that such a yuzu-focused orchard could produce such an outstanding yuzu liqueur.
