Beyond guava, Amami is the exclusive home of Kokuto (Brown Sugar) Shochu, the only region in Japan legally permitted to produce this spirit. This featured liqueur is crafted by the Matsunaga Distillery in Amami. It uses organic guava leaves steeped in a Kokuto Shochu base with zero added sugar, capturing the pure, authentic essence of the islands.
