“The most charming green grape juice!” With aromatic muscat grape notes, gentle acidity, and a fruity, sweet aroma, this “Niagara Blanc” is beloved by Japanese wine fans. It’s also the most popular white wine from St. Cousair Winery in Nagano.
Crafted from Niagara (muscat) grapes grown in Hokkaido, this wine showcases rich green grape aromas and low acidity, typical of the variety. While other wineries often blend in higher-acid grapes for balance, St. Cousair fully embraces Niagara, using winemaking skill to highlight its sweetness and maintain overall structure.
On the nose, it’s full of sweet grape fragrance with a hint of citrus. The palate is medium-bodied, slightly sweet, very fruity, and low in acidity—just like sipping delicious green grape juice. The finish is unexpectedly clean and refreshing, making it a wine you’ll want to keep pouring.
St. Cousair Winery is located on a hillside in Iizuna, northern Nagano, founded in 1990 and known as one of Japan’s most beautiful wineries. The owner’s wife is a pastor, so the estate features European-style buildings and a pure white chapel—a favorite spot for visitors. After more than 30 years, St. Cousair enjoys a strong reputation in Japan and overseas, with annual production now exceeding 250,000 bottles.
