During production, the yuzu peel is pressed with the lightest touch to extract the fragrant citrus oils into the liqueur, without imparting any bitterness from the peel. On the nose, it’s a gentle, sweet yuzu aroma—refreshing and subtly elegant, with low acidity. The palate is mellow and filled with rich yuzu sweetness, completely free from the bitterness typical of yuzu peel. As you swallow, a pleasant yuzu acidity emerges, bringing a sweet-and-tart citrus note that lingers beautifully on the finish. Yaryugin is crafted by Tsutsumi Shuzo in Kumamoto’s Kuma District, a region with a 500-year heritage of rice shochu production. It’s no surprise they use their specialty Kuma Shochu as the base for this liqueur. Aside from shochu, Tsutsumi Shuzo is also acclaimed for their range of liqueurs; several of their yuzu liqueurs and vermouths are already exported to Europe and the US.
