Fortified Wine refers to a type of alcoholic beverage made by adding distilled spirits to wine. Common types include Port, Sherry, and Madeira, and they are generally produced in European regions. Japan rarely has wineries that produce Fortified Wine.

"Hokkaido's 'Tokachi Wine' in Japan is one of the few wineries in the country that both brews wine and distills brandy. Therefore, it is only natural that they have launched this Silmo produced in the Port Wine style."

"Shikaku" adds brandy during the fermentation process of its own white wine and then ages the wine in wooden barrels for 15 years. Due to the addition of brandy during fermentation, the suddenly increased alcohol content makes it impossible for yeast to survive, so the sugar in the grape juice is not completely converted into alcohol. Therefore, Silmo's sweetness is higher than that of ordinary white wines, making it suitable for being enjoyed as a dessert wine before or after meals.

THE COLOR IS A BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN YELLOW, AND THE AROMA IS INCREDIBLY INDULGENT. IT HAS THE SWEET FRAGRANCE OF BRANDY-LIKE GRAPES BUT REVEALS A HINT OF WHITE WINE'S FRUITY ACIDITY. UPON TASTING, WOW, IT'S RARE TO ENCOUNTER SUCH A FLAVOR. THE BACKGROUND IS THE MELLOW AROMA OF BRANDY, THE MOUTH IS FILLED WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF GRAPE SWEETNESS, ACCOMPANIED BY THE FRUITY ACIDITY OF GRAPE SKINS. IT'S SWEET WITHOUT BEING CLOYING, OF VERY HIGH QUALITY, AND IT'S EASY TO CAN'T HELP BUT REACH FOR ANOTHER GLASS! THE 18% ALCOHOL CONTENT ISN'T TOO STRONG, YET IT STIMULATES YOUR TASTE BUDS JUST RIGHT. "TOKACHI WINERY," LOCATED IN IKEDA TOWN, HOKKAIDO, TRACES ITS ORIGINS TO THE GREAT KANTO EARTHQUAKE OF MAGNITUDE 8.2 THAT STRUCK HOKKAIDO IN 1952. THAT YEAR, AN EARTHQUAKE CAUSED WIDESPREAD DESTRUCTION TO CROPS IN HOKKAIDO, AND A FOOD CRISIS SEEMED IMMINENT. TO ADDRESS THE URGENT SITUATION, THE MAYOR OF IKEDA TOWN IN HOKKAIDO DECIDED TO TRY GROWING WILD GRAPES ─ TOKACHI GRAPES ─ IN THE TOKACHI REGION, AND THUS THE TOKACHI GRAPE AND WINE RESEARCH INSTITUTE WAS ESTABLISHED! THE INSTITUTE EVENTUALLY WENT COMMERCIAL, PRODUCING RED AND WHITE WINES AS WELL AS BRANDY FROM ITS OWN GRAPE VARIETIES, BECOMING A REMARKABLE STORY OF THE TIME!
