ohoro Gin, crafted by Niseko Distillery in Hokkaido, has swept global awards, winning the World Gin Awards 2024 “Best Classic Gin,” SFWSC 2024 Double Gold, and more.

The gin features 14 botanicals, including mint, coriander, angelica, willow, iris root, and juniper berries, with a classic profile emphasizing juniper and herbal aromas. The name “Ohoro” comes from the Ainu language, meaning “continuation”—reflecting the distillery’s wish for this gin’s legacy to endure.

Tasting neat, it opens with vibrant juniper, mingling with light citrus and fresh herbal notes. The palate is refined and soft, layered with citrus sweetness, pine-like bitterness, and persistent juniper, finishing with a long, clean, elegant aftertaste. It is both traditionally classic and uniquely Japanese in its delicate style—deservedly award-winning.

Niseko Distillery was established in 2019 by Hakkaisan Brewery (famous for sake), and focuses on gin and whisky. While their first whisky will launch in 2025, ohoro Gin has already raised global expectations for their spirits.
