"Kaze no Mori" is a well-known brand among sake enthusiasts. Its parent company, Yuzo Shuzo in Nara, decided to "branch out" in 2017 by establishing "Yamato Distillery" to fully enter the increasingly popular Gin field.
"Yamato Distillery" wanted to create a Gin with Nara characteristics, so they decided to use Yamato tangerines and Yamato angelica leaves, which are specialties of Nara, as distillation materials. Since the distillery lacked experience in distilling Gin at the beginning, they had to keep trying and learn from their mistakes. Therefore, in the early stages of operation, the distillery could only release a small number of experimental works. From Batch 1 to Batch 7, each batch was limited to only a few hundred bottles, with completely different recipes. To highlight the experimental nature of the works, the products from Batch 1 to Batch 7 were all packaged in distinctive 500ml stainless steel bottles.
However, the attempts of the first seven Batches were ultimately just a process. By Batch 8, "Yamato Distillery" felt that they had found the ideal taste, so they decided to adopt the current 700ml white porcelain packaging and stabilize the formula from then on, making the product constant. This is the "Tachibana Flower" we are going to introduce today!
To give bartenders more room for creativity when making cocktails, "Yamato Distillery" chose to bottle this product at 59 degrees. First, try drinking it neat with ice. The scent of orange peel hits you immediately, and behind it, you can faintly smell the unique woody aroma of juniper. Upon tasting, there is a charming citrus sourness and sweetness, with a slightly bitter angelica spiciness lingering at the end. If used to make a Gin Tonic, the citrus aroma will appear even fresher, and the flavor profile will seem richer.
