In sumo, “Ōiri” (大入) signifies a full house — when the arena is packed to the brim. Traditionally, on such days, red, gold, and white “Ōiri” envelopes were handed out to celebrate the overflowing crowds and prosperity. This label borrows that concept: a sake so overflowing in richness, aroma, and texture, it’s as full as a sumo arena on a sold-out day.
Pouring it into the glass, an intense burst of yuzu fragrance immediately fills the air. The texture is thick and pulpy — almost like drinking freshly crushed yuzu jam. It’s half a drink, half a dessert! Medium sweetness gives way to a gentle, cleansing acidity on the finish, keeping the palate refreshed. Despite its density, there’s no cloying aftertaste — just pure, luxurious yuzu satisfaction.
Crafted by Nishiyama Shuzojo in Tamba, Hyogo — a brewery with over 175 years of history, best known for its Kotsuzumi sake — this liqueur uses sake as its base, blended with yuzu juice and pulp. Only the richest middle cut (nakagumi) is used, discarding the head and tail portions for maximum flavor purity. A touch of ripe plum is added for depth, resulting in an extraordinarily velvety, fruit-packed yuzu liqueur.
This isn’t your typical crisp yuzu sake — it’s a thick, jam-like yuzu explosion, overflowing with fruit pulp and richness. A must-try for anyone seeking a bold, full-bodied twist on classic yuzu liqueur.
